Chris Hillman. Bidin my time

Picked up a copy of this cd recently, while the music and song selection are great the vocals are harsh and grainy sounding just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
I have just ordered the lp version of this wonderful lp hoping to find better sound.

It is recorded hot. Lots of midrange energy. Hillman's voice is higher register and there is sibilance. The ballad songs like cuts 2,3 and 4 are better. I don't know why Petty mixed it this way? I can agree with your description.

The 24 bit - 48kHz flac is clear as a bell with no sibilance, speakers are Salk HT2-TL with RAAL tweeter and Seas W18 magnesium cone drivers so I would hear it if it was there. The sound is very close to what you would hear at a live amplified concert in a small or medium sized venue that has excellent acoustics. Demo quality for sure.
