Dynaudio has released a software upgrade for their Focus XD range of speakers.  This is possible because they are active and fully digital:

http://www.dynaudio.com/dynaudio-academy/2017/march/how-to-upgrade-your-system-free/?__lsk=3b381f00a609e2ce1f74a43b665a3bf4&utm_content=2017FocusXD&utm_campaign=Content+Marketing+2017&utm_source=Mailchimp&utm_medium=Email+Marketing+2017&utm_source=Dynaudio+Newsletter&utm_campaign=adf0a81bbf-Email_March_DSP%26ActiveCrossovers&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_550fa1863c-adf0a81bbf-85495121

Note that Dynaudio builds their own drivers and cabinets, so have full control over the entire design and manufacturing process.

Love their approach if not their price point!

Seriously I could see owning tech like this in the future and 5 years ago I thought that was the trajectory for attractively priced wireless active speakers.

Maybe in 10.

That's absolutely fabulous.  I imagine it's a real game changer for those considering a purchase.
