Ida8 and 12" woofer
« on: 21 Feb 2017, 12:43 am »
Hi,

I want to purchase a IDA8 amp for my old infinity quantum qr speakers.
Does anyone knows if that amp can handle 12" woofer ?

Bass: 12"
Mids: 1.5"
Highs: 1 x EMIT
Suggested for amplifiers with: 25-200 Watts per channel
Frequency range: 40 Hz - 32 kHz
Crossover frequencies: 600 Hz, 4000 Hz

Thanks

I used the IDA8 in some development of EDDIE. The sound was amazing. I also used the NuPrime K38 in 200 and 400 watt configuration. The real difference between the power (current) is the ease of delivery and added dynamic range. That said, the speaker should sound very good unless you're demanding THX and DJ level sounds  :D  I must add that the IDA8 has an addictive sound quality to it. It is my go-to reference for my friends. And not just because of price - there's something absolutely wonderful about it. The EMIT should sound better than you have EVER heard it. Can't wait to hear your opinion.

Thanks for this answer.

I had this felling, but it is good to ear it from others.
IDA-8 is coming back to my top 2 choice !!

Next step is to try it....

Arnaud,

Once those speakers are finished, what will their sensitivity be?

This should work. If it is 87dB then it is borderline case.
