Ncore nc400 kit or nord nc500 amp?
« on: 28 Dec 2016, 04:04 am »
Anyone heard both? Seems like the nord amp is about the same price as the nc400 kit. The nc590 has more wartts into 8 and 4 ohms but less into 2. Not sure what the practical differences are I would be driving a pair of audiokinesis planetarium delta floorstanders with them, which are around 8 ohms and something a,omg the lines of 98db efficient.

Why would you buy a kit when Colin can deliver you a ready to go amp for "about the same price?" If you are really talking about the NC400 vs the NC500 module then the 500 is a higher performing product on all levels and like the NC1200 oem only. If you are talking about the new 500MP modules then it and the 400 are probably similar except you have to build one and not the other. With 98db speakers it won't make a difference so just let someone else do the heavy lifting.

I don't  have any interest in the nc500mp, just the regular nc500. The nc500 dual mono amp with two power supplies is about 1450 us it looks like, and the nc400 kit is about 1420 for a pair of mon amps so it looks pretty similar in price.
I was just wondering if anyone had actually heard both.

But yes, it does seem that the nord is a pretty good deal.
