Thanks so much for that. A friend of mine used to work for Monk, I had no idea that's how he started. I'm an expat Canadian and clearly missed the glory days, my neighbour had a Clairtone "ghetto blaster" which was clearly not their highest accomplishment.
Those systems look great. I remember going to a mall with my parents when I was about 10 (so 1979) and seeing early generation Bang & Olufsen turntables and systems and being mesmerized by the design and sound, these look like that a decade prior - and then some.
That would look nice in my living room.
Thanks Syrah,
happy to read that you liked my link on Clairtone.
The friend I was hanging with when I was 16 years old,
it was because of his father's Clairtone stereo and
he knew how much I liked the sound of the Clairtone.
At that time, father only had a small two pieces RCA stereo with one 5.5'' woofer in each
of the two cabinets.
When the mother of my friend died last year,
at the funeral parlor my friend showed me a picture of the Clairtone stereo.
That day, even if the atmosphere was sad,
he made me happy and we brought back nice souvenirs.

By the way,
if I remember right,
the Clairtone had a Guarrad turntable that was built like a German tank.
The amplifier had a pair of EL84 or 6BQ5 in push-pull.
I know because we we curious youngsters and we opened the unit
while the father was out.
The speakers were 8'' woofer and 3.5'' tweeter.
I am not sure, but I think it was a two way.
Sealed or bass reflex still a mystery.
