This is the built-out version of the first cabinet photo on this thread. Thanks to Jon Parkhurst for building the cabinet with 1" Baltic birch construction, to Danny for the kit, and to the Skiing Ninja for putting it all together. Also thanks to me for requesting the 1" roundovers, the  extra inputs, and the removable back board.

Check out the awesome dual "woofers"!

Bet you liked those removable backs!!!  Why two sets of inputs?

The two sets of inputs are in parallel (not biwire) to allow for any type of wire termination to be used. The removable back was more of a benefit to the Skiing Ninja as he did all the assembly work. I'm debating leaving the back removable versus gluing it on.

Put a little silicone caulk in there so if you ever would have to get it off you can but it will still seal it tight. Looks great.

Thanks. And thanks for the amazing deal on the cabinets. I wasn't really in the market for these speakers but the price and quality of the cabinets was too good to pass up. Now I have them playing quietly all the time to speed up the breaking in process, especially of the platinum sonicaps. They sound great already, especially the soundstage and imaging, and I expect them to get even better.

Looks like the driver spacing was increased slightly. I wouldn't say that caused a "problem" but the vertical off axis response and driver blending my not be quite as smooth as it would have been otherwise.

Good call on the dual sets of binding posts. After you have some burn in time on them you might be able to switch between the two sets and give some feedback on the differences.

X-SLS, X-CS, AV1-RS

You should include the thin tower.
I guess it was known as desktop speaker.
It was practically a GR designed speaker anyway.  :D

Agreed  :thumb:

bibin3210,
The black paint looks really good. That can't be just spray cans?
What kind of paint did you use and did you use a compressor and paint gun?

Very nice!  What veneer (source?) and finish did you use?

Thank you Scott, WireNut and Todd Willhoit for your comments.

@ WireNut: That is NC Metallic Black with less glitters applied using compressor and spray gun. After 72 hours of curing, hand rubbed and wax polished (Formula 1).

@Todd Willhoit : It is not veneer, self adhesive PVC laminate.

You can find more work in progress images here.

Thanks,
Bibin

Boy does that bring back memories. My father was an engineer with Heath Co. in St. Joseph, MI back in the early 60's.
