Title: What's the best MQA streamer?
Post by: matthewpartrick on 19 Mar 2017, 03:40 pm
Mods please feel free to move if I've placed in the wrong section.

Cost no object, what do you think is the best commercially available MQA streamer?  Ideally it would be Roon-compatible.

I already have a Roon/MQA DAC, so that's not an issue.

I say "cost no object" but <5k is really where I'm looking.

Thx in advance!

I'm not sure the streamer needs to be "MQA" since your DAC does that decoding.  Imho, the Aurender line is fantastic for ease of use, build and sound quality.  I have the N10 and it does everything I need, including on board internal storage (4TB)

I own a Lumin S1 and it does a full unfold of MQA.  Sounds wonderful!

Most people don't have an MQA DAC, especially at the high end of the market, so you need
a streamer that will do an unfold so that your DAC sees 32bit/96 typically from a Tidal MQA
stream.

Overall, after hearing several, I would say unequivocally, the Aurender N10 is the best of all
if you're using an external DAC.

The N10 also has a very unique feature in that it will convert all your DSD files to PCM
on the fly via field programmed gate array, so that you don't need a DSD Dac to enjoy these
files......

I've used the N10 for a week now and it has reignited my interest in music altogether.

My 20,000.00 turntable has been silent.....
