So Massdrop has a K812 drop for $999, but there are only 18 units in the drop. Guess AKG doesn't want to take too much of a beating on the $$$.
The usual Massdrop audiophile-y "word salad" is on display: "The low impedance (36 ohms) guarantees minimal distortion" I wasn't aware that there was a direct relationship between driver impedance and distortion per se. Gee, my 300 ohm Sennheisers sound pretty clean to me but who knows. This doesn't quite measure up to "The lows have been jacked up by 3dB for fully immersive stereo imaging"
that they used to describe the K7xx drop, but it's not bad.
FWIW, Tyll at Innerfidelity gave the K812 a 'meh' review but I thought some here might be interested.
