I used it for two months and it sounded great.  However I now use a BDP 1 connected to a PS Audio DSD DAC with a Cardas Clear digital interconnect and in my system this gives me even better sound quality.

Thanks for sharing.
Any comparison with other USB converters?
I wonder if USB connection contains many jitters & unstable why don't manufacturers populate LAN & Wireless instead?

Hi Folks,

We have a very in depth review coming out on the Bryston BUC-1 USB Interface.

As a sneak peak here is a short excerpt:

After 4 days of running tests for the Bryston BUC-1 I have the test results, and they are really something.

At 24/96 sampling, THD+N at 1 kHz was 0.00002%, which is below any digital product I have ever tested.

The clocking procedure is superb. I think consumer who already have a DAC with an asynchronous USB input might want to put the BUC-1 in the signal chain, with the computer output to the BUC-1 and the BUC-1 to their DAC., and yes, the sound is great!

The BUC 1 has a digital signal in and a digital signal out so how can you measure THD + N?  Doesn't that measurement only apply to an analog signal?

Question -- If you already have a DAC with well-implemented asynchronous USB input (such as the Bryston BDA-2), then is there any advantage to adding a BUC-1? Specifically, is Scenario 1 below better than Scenario 2?

(1) Mac Mini (optimized for audio) USB output > BUC-1, and then BUC-1 AES-EBU output to BDA-2 AES-EBU input
or
(2)  Mac Mini (optimized for audio) USB output > BDA-2 USB input

If the question reveals ignorance, go easy on me in your replies -- thanks!

Hi

The USB section is identical in the BDA2 and the BUC 1 so no advantage.
