hmmm, an amp with an Ethernet connection and RS232 port, indeed, what could it be. It looks like a modified 9B due to the handle and of course the 9B module there, but what is the purpose of those additions

I am still thinking about it but I think I liked our room location at the other location better.

James, I think it would be very difficult to beat the room you had at the other location. It was simply the best. I will see you in the morning.

What could this be

Are the Bryston amps going to get some remote control capability through Ethernet and/or RS-232?

What besides on/off could one want to control?

Will the amp report its temperature, average or peak power? Or will the pro version get an electronic volume control like the BP-17/SP-3? ;)

Anxious to hear what you are planning!  8)

I see the amp module of that 9B still has the locking mechanism on the XLR input. The 28's I bought last year did not have the locking mechanism and I was told these were removed on purpose from the amps so I'm wondering has that decision been reversed and if so when did that take place and why?

Good evening:  I rarely post anymore on AC but I felt this is a proper time to write.
I just came home after spending 9 hours at the Toronto TAVES show.  I visited many, many rooms today.
Some sounded good - others not so good.
And which was my favourite room?  The Bryston room - hands down.  And this was at the end of the day!
The system that James has with the Model T's is really exceptional.  Actually, quite incredible when you realize that the pristine sound emenating from the T's starts with a USB thumb drive as the digital medium.
The sound is so smooth and natural - completely effortless and non-fatiguing.  Dare I say tube-like without any
tubes in sight!
James - this is Sam (remember - you and I spent 5 hours on the plane from Denver several years ago).
This system is quite an accomplishment - congrats!!
And by the way - to all you ACers:  I was listening to the system in the sweet spot, and James was right next to me.  He is a great guy to talk to; he answers questions with total honesty.  Those of you who have met him know that he is one of the true "White Hats" of the industry.  This was a treat.

The Toronto show seems to be better than the RMAF.

Hi

The D amps are generally used in Surround systems and we are running Stereo only at shows.

An enjoyable visit to TAVES today and always a pleasure to drop into the Bryston room and say "hello." Felt like a hungry kid in a candy store with shallow pockets when I was looking at the Kronos turntables - the Sparta would certainly look good in my most humble abode.

On another interesting and somewhat alarming note - did not see a lot of the younger crowd in the audio rooms during my visit today, just mostly the 40's plus demographics. One of my college professors always said "by the time you can afford a great sounding audio system, your hearing is shot and you can not fully enjoy it." Come to think of it, he had the highest failure rate in his classes  :duh:

Be well...

That's just a prototype 9b to demo straight what we are doing.

Cheers
