Benchmark Media DAC2 HGC Video Review
« on: 6 May 2014, 08:46 pm »
Hey,

For this interested, I just knocked out a review of the Benchmark DAC2 HGC! The link is below my summary...

The Benchmark Media DAC2 HDC is one of those components that not only raises the bar, it forces the entire industry to step up their game and move forward. While one can expect a fantastic digital to audio converter from the same creators of the classic Benchmark 1, it’s hard to believe this company would also turn out one of the better sounding analog preamps I’ve heard. Combine the fact that you also have a reference class headphone section, and you now have a piece of equipment that is the one to beat. Easy recommendation from New Record Day!

Nice review. However, if my woman caught me looking at "High Rez" stuff, the computer would be out the window. :green:

Thanks for the nice review.  It has me curious enough to seek more info on the product.  One thing though, it's Digital to Analog not Digital to Audio. :o

That was a fun and informative review.  Nice job!  I've had a DAC2 HGC since November 2012.  One of the DAC2's best and most under publicized and utilized features is the analog line stage.  it's so good that plugging a phono stage into it and using it as a control preamp will be a significant upgrade to most vinyl rigs.  As you stated in the video, it's the perfect component for integrating vinyl and digital playback.

Thanks!  That was fun.  I've been seriously considering getting into the DAC/preamp game and that helped.  How about comparing the Benchmark to the BMC PureDac and the Mytek 192?

What were those speakers?

- No AES/EBU input
- 2- SPDIF inputs on RCA, why no BNC input?

What other DACs have you compare it to?
