I visited a good friend last night to hear his 2ch system and went away very impressed...make that shocked. His system:
NAD M55 player; Clearaudio Concept TT/wooden cartridge??..not sure; NAD C 165BEE preamp; McCormack DNA-225 amp and VR4 Jr MKII speakers; Velodyne DD-15 sub....audioquest cabling pretty much throughout.
We listened to redbook, SACD, DVD audio and a few LPs. The resolution was phenomenal while remaining very musical. Albert's speakers did their normal job of making bad recordings sound respectable and good recordings sound great. This system proves that great sound is accessible without blowing the kids' college fund
