It really seems like the curse of drug abuse haunts musicans like no other group of people. Chris was a phenomenal live performer. I was blessed to see him at least twice in the Detroit area. Taken too soon!!!

Oh no! Sad... Soundgarden took up a portion of the soundtrack of my life while in art school at the start of the '90's...

No cause given yet but sounds like EdRo knows.

RIP Chris.

Shocked the hell out of me! I am a huge Soundgarden fan. SuperUnknown is amongst the greatest albums of all time. Saw Chris Cornell live once when he was doing his solo stuff. Amazing performer and incredible stage presence. A voice that simply could not be matched to boot. Rest In Peace Chris. Thanks for the great music.

WTF....

Very sad, all the more so if the suicide report is true.

If you want a musical surprise, listen to his version of 'Billie Jean', which he does as a slow blues.

Was very sad to hear the news. Only 52.  I loved Soundgarden & that 1st Audioslave release.

The wife & I saw Chris Cornell up close in the Austin, Texas airport some years back when he was going solo & wearing short hair. He had performed that nite in Austin & was standing in line to grab some BBQ before the next gig while looking around nervously not wanting to be seen. We respected his space.

Sad news. I saw him do a one man show a couple years ago. He had a unique take on musical structure, and a great voice. RIP

Wow.  I'm usually not surprised when I hear of an artist dying young but this really hit me.  He was 52 and looked 32.  Seems I heard he had been clean and sober for quite a while.  I also heard it could be a suicide.  Depression is a terrible thing and hard to understand.  Such a loss- a great songwriter with an operatic voice.

Easily one of the greatest rock singers/song writers from one of music's most groundbreaking eras (which happened to be when I was in highschool / college). I have a lot of memories tied to the music from this time....ugh..... :(
