I really like this disk.

Tom Scott - Cannon Re-Loaded: An All-Star Celebration of Cannonball Adderley

Personnel: Tom Scott (alto saxophone); Nancy Wilson (vocals); Terence Blanchard (trumpet); George Duke (piano, Fender Rhodes piano, Wurlitzer piano, Wurlitzer organ); Larry Goldings (Hammond b-3 organ); Dave Carpenter, Marcus Miller (electric bass); Steve Gadd (drums).

Down Beat (p.60) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "The band has a close-in feel, with saxophonist Scott's history of pop/funk jazz well-suited to the material. Trumpeter Terence Blanchard serves as the perfect foil for him..."

JazzTimes (pp.122-123) - "Along with keyboardist George Duke, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Marcus Miller and trumpeter Terence Blanchard, Scott gets to the cheery caramel center of the Adderley aesthetic."

Alternative Press (7/00, p.110) - 3 out of 5 - "...Reaffirms his commitment to just keep doing what he does, with solid results....[He] dishes up a surprisingly cohesive assortment of funk, blues and Cajun-infected fare, unclichTd jazz-rock and the occasional quirky tone poem..."
