Amp for Musicians?

Any ideas (or links) to boutique companies that design, build and/or sell guitar amps?  A friend of mine is a bassist and he's looking for an "audiophile quality" guitar amp.

Thanks.

Lou Hinkley of Daedalus Audio got his start building guitar amps   speakers 25 years ago.

[As noted to me via email by a fellow AC buddy, Lou doesn't make guitar amps. He makes instrument speakers.:duh: ]
